Hoof hygenic system

The devio hoof hygiene system

The devio hoof hygiene system is made of top-quality materials and components. It is manufactured in Germany to the highest quality levels. Production began with development of the Liesl K1, which was followed by the Liesl K2. The K3 is the latest development (as at summer 2011).

The overall construction as well as the cleaning and disinfection units are all made of stainless steel. The technical components are housed beneath steel panelling and can easily be accessed via the removable side panel. To take the local setting into account, it is possible to choose whether the technical components should be installed on the right or left-hand side.

The walkway's surface is unique: the cattle pass over a glass fibre reinforced, anti-slip grating (anti-slip classification R13). They do not stand in water but rather on a grill. Six nozzles along the bottom spray approx. 25 m³ water per hour by means of a pump to gently remove the coating of dirt from the hooves and interdigital spaces.

The system is activated by two light sensors. The first sensor at the system's entrance triggers cleaning of the hooves; the second at the end activates the spray nozzles containing the agilosan disinfectant. Cleaning and disinfection, filtering and regulation of the water level in the system are all controlled by a computer. The only manual task for the farmer to perform is regular rinsing of the system.

Depending on the degree of dirtiness, this should be changed after 100-500 cows have passed through the system. There are two safety catches at the drain shutter for rapid emptying. After emptying the system, the walkway grills can be removed to rinse any remaining dirt from the bath. Once the drain shutter has been closed, the system automatically refills itself. And once the water level has attained the optimal level, it is once again ready for use.

The devio hoof hygiene system – for maximum hoof hygiene

  • Top-quality materials – for a robust system to meet the highest demands
  • Optimal entrance height and anti-slip surface – for a high degree of acceptance among cattle
  • Computer-controlled cleaning and disinfection - costing the farmer minimal time

In contrast with hoof baths and hoof washing units, the dairy cattle's hooves are cleaned and then disinfected in a separate disinfection area.
