The devio two-phase system
The devio two-phase system allows for easy daily cleaning and disinfection of the hooves in one go.
Phase 1 - Cleaning of the hooves
During this first phase, the hooves are cleaned. When an animal enters the system, the sensor at its entrance triggers the start of cleaning of the hooves. This is automatically switched off again by the program once the configured time has elapsed.
Six cleaning nozzles spray approx. 25 m³ water per hour to gently remove the coating from the hooves and interdigital spaces. The first five nozzles spray in the direction in which the animal is walking; the sixth sprays from the front. The animals find the gentle cleaning process extremely agreeable, assuring their willingness to walk over the system.
Phase 2 – Disinfection of the hooves
During the second phase, the hooves are disinfected. The cow passing through the system triggers sensors that initiate the disinfection phase, which is automatically stopped again by the program.
Two nozzles spray the biocide agilosan, disinfecting the hooves and interdigital spaces.
Periodic rinsing and filtering
Once ten cows have passed through the system, the water level is increased to rinse any floating particles over the bath's edges.
For economic, effective cleaning of the hooves, the cleaning water is automatically filtered and reused.
Cleaning and disinfection of the system, filtration and the water level are all controlled by a computer. The only task to be completed manually is regular changing of the cleaning water. Depending on the degree of dirtiness, it should be changed after 100-500 cows have passed through the system.
Additional effects
The combined cleansing and disinfection have several positive side effects:
- Easier hoof inspection
- More effective treatment of hooves in the milking parlour
- Milking system requires less cleaning (with installation of the system before this)
